Classic Poem

Medieval witnesses have sworn in court
that the cat
has turned beer sour,
wrecked ships,
infested chancres
and led armies
up
and down

And Protestants
have testified
that the Pope
himself prowled
in the form
of a black cat.
Yet it is incapable
of changing one hair
of its mustache.
