The Believer in the Wildnerness
Of the wide Wilderness, in Scripture I read;
God led forth his People, to try and to feed.
To feed them from Heaven the Manna it fell;
And the Rock issu'd Water to them for a well.
O feed me from Heaven with Bread that's divine;
For sure in this Wilderness Trials are mine.
For this Way, and that Way, and Cross-ways I'm led;
But I look to my Saviour, for he is the Head.
The Head of his Church; and his People will lead
To sweet Gospel Pastures, to drink and to feed.
Tho' I'm in a Desert, he can me supply;
I have fled to this Rock, and would on him rely.
When hungry and thirsty, and ready to faint;
He is the best Friend in ev'ry Complaint.
Come hither, his People, Oh! come in a throng;
And lean on this Saviour, his Arm it is strong.
This is the best Refuge you ever can take;
For Thousands and Millions his Arm will ne'er break.
He is Omnipotent, and can us all bear;
Invites us to come, and cast on him our care.
