BETHLEHEM: THE PLACE OF HIS BIRTH .

I thought of J ESUS on the Hill
Of B ETHLEHEM , fair B ETHLEHEM :
The Shepherds watching through the night, —
The angelic songsters clothed in light, —
The promised Child so humbly born
For pilgrimage of toil and scorn;
Then, as I mused on them,
This voice from B ETHLEHEM I heard, —
The Hill is Holy to our new-born Lord!
