Bill Beach

THE NEPEAN

O do you recall the Nepean, Bill Beach,
These thirty odd long years ago?
You will find the years growing much shorter, Bill Beach,
As one or two more of us know.

But do you remember old Penrith, Bill Beach?
That shabby town never will change.
And do you remember the battle you fought
For Australia, down under the range?

With little of greed, or place hunger, Bill Beach,
At the birth of our national pride?
O those were the days we were younger, Bill Beach,
And sheep were a shilling a side.

Or half a sheep went for a bob, William Beach,
To use the more technical term,
With old Ikey Mo on the job, William Beach,
In his Goulburn Street butchering firm.
