O' RAYNE

Refrain

I'll gang nae mair to yon toun
Whate'er may be the plea —
I'll gang nae mair to yon toun
Tho' bonnier could na be.

I.

The folk that made it like a hame
Are gane or far awa',
And strange is ilka face and name
Whar aince I kent them a'.

II.

O yonder cot that was sae crouse
Wi' kindly but an' ben —
That was for me my father's hoose —
It's noo a cattle pen .

III.

The smiddy fire is lang gane oot,
The anvil rings nae mair;
The thackit riggin' needs a clout —
The place is cauld an' bare.

IV.

I 'll gang nae mair beside the burn
The loupin' trout to see,
Nor by the road whar ilka turn
Was sweet and dear to me.

V.

I 'll gang nae mair to yon toun
Whate'er may be the plea —
I 'll gang nae mair to yon toun
Tho' bonnier could na be.
