O H bold and true,
In buff and blue,
Is the soldier-lad that will fight for you.
In fort or field,
Untaught to yield,
Though death may close his story —
In charge or storm,
'Tis woman's form
That marshals him to glory.

In each fair fold
His eyes behold
When his country's flag waves o'er him —
