Burial

" I WOULD lie in the earth! " he said.
— " I would lie in the holy earth.
She is made of the very bones of the dead.
— Out of her I had birth. "

" I would burn in the fire! " said she.
— " I would burn in the holy fire,
That burneth all to purity.
— Strew for me the fragrant pyre! "

In the restless sea I will find my rest!
— The earth is pure and pure the flame;
But water is holy above the best,
— Out of her all things came!
