Lovers and connoisseurs of sound agree
That musick's art, Pepusch, owes much to thee,
For thou, a painful champion in her cause,
Hast methodis'd her controverted laws.
Thy long unwearied labour and deep thought
Her problems have to demonstration brought,
Whose rules, unerring, such conviction give,
That till the science dies thy name must live.
