Classic Poem

For moments of this life's swift cycle made
Commemorable with you, O Ecstasy,
Shall we be reconciled in worlds to be,
Shall we find recompense when death is paid?
I can imagine in eternal shade
Solace for tired dreams, and in the sea
Equivalent for moods of stress or glee;
In stars an old unrest merged and allayed.

What element can give us, in your name,
Redress which is appreciable before
The concept of the universal mind?
You, who are multiform, to one a flame,
Soul-scourging; to another are defined
In sudden earth-breaths through an opened door.
