Epigram
What wretch hath not cring'd to Sir Something-for-Nothing?
Who ne'er pays a doit for food, service, or clothing?
At the board he's a bore, in the senate a rum thing;
Yet all seem well pleas'd with his Nothing for Something!
He horsewhips his farmers, and breaks down their fences;
Yet Hodge gives his all for the looby's pretences!
And his rawboned old Shrew was so cunningly civil,
That Sugarcask married their eldest she-devil.
Who ne'er pays a doit for food, service, or clothing?
At the board he's a bore, in the senate a rum thing;
Yet all seem well pleas'd with his Nothing for Something!
He horsewhips his farmers, and breaks down their fences;
Yet Hodge gives his all for the looby's pretences!
And his rawboned old Shrew was so cunningly civil,
That Sugarcask married their eldest she-devil.
