Epitaph for Giovanni Pontano
To Pontano — who sang in polished verses of you, great stars, and of you, citron-flowers that bloom in Hesperidian gardens — give dew, O fostering stars, and do you, O gardens, give crowns. For ever they will deck his tomb with falling flowers and for ever sprinkle it with dripping dew.
