Upon R ICHARD T URBERVILLE , Esquire's offering his Services to the County of Glamorgan in Wales .

When gross Venality, with bare-fac'd State,
Lords it amongst our Honour-grasping Great ;
When Actions which wou'd stigmatize a Turk,
And make him curse his own base Canvas-Work ;
Who but must honour, much approve that Man,
Directed by a far more worthy Plan?
That gen'rous Soul, who with an honest Heart,
In these corrupted Times, avows a Part,
So nobly great, a C ATO well might claim,
(For Love of Country is a God-like Aim)
Then show your Love, accept his profer'd Care,
Rest on his honest Zeal, you've nought to fear;
Join One and All to give his Merits due,
The more you favour Him, the safer You.
