A Farewell

Farewell ! — Now Time must slowlier move
Than e'er since this dark world began!
And thou wilt give thy heaven of love
Unto another, happier man!

And then — I never more will see
Those eyes, — but hide, far off, my pain;
And thou wilt have forgotten me ,
Or smile thou see'st me not again.

Live happy, in thy happier lot;
And I will strive, (if't so must be,)
To think 'tis well to be forgot,
Since it may keep a pang from thee .
