Fireside

Come sing the name that brings all hearts
Together and warms them cheerily
However wide the sea that parts
And the distance lowering drearily —

Come make a circle while we sing,
Add green logs on the embers,
[line left blank ]
Come make a circle while we sing.

Come make a ring and let us sing,
The good old Christmas story,
The love of praise, whose ancient days
Gain honors as they grow hoary!

Come make a ring and let us sing
With a pledge & a kindly blessing
To all of those both friends & foes
Who are far from the hands caressing.

The snow lays thick the ashes click,
Heap logs upon the embers
[incomplete ]

'Twas thus our grey forefathers sang
In the days that went before us —
Thus will our children shout again
When the sweet green grass grows o'er us —
