Fortune

A fair and stately china vase,
With choicest flowers fragrant,
Sneered at an earthen jar, as base,
Declaring it a vagrant.

The jar, with modest mien, replied,
" The virtue thou art rich in
Might suffer, spite of parlor pride,
Wert thou but in the kitchen. "
