My dear, the Lord hath spar'd your Life,
Tho' Death did seem so near;
When I a Journey with you went,
To take the Country Air.
That Air soon did restore your Health,
God did a blessing give;
I wish that you would think of this,
And to his honour live.
View every Action of your Life,
Consider well your Heart;
Ask if the Saviour's got the whole,
Or, hath the World a part?
He'll have no Rival in that Heart,
Which he takes for his own;
I wish that you may think of this,
And love the Lord alone.
I know that you're in the prime of Life,
And Snares may you surround;
There is no Guardian like the Lord,
May you in Christ be found.
For this will sweeten Life itself,
And so you'll happy be;
If that you live to God thro' Christ,
And are from sin set free.
