To Go On Singing

Why do I want to go on singing
in sunlight and shadow?
To keep on flowing and not stop talking
and making pictures?

I want to write like the clouds
in Rani Pokhri;
I want to make the flowers bloom
and carve them into tenderness.

Come now, tell me! the murmur
of flowing sonorous water.
I dream of heaven and I want
to pull it down.

This is merely longing's flood
trying to flow away.
Ever worshipping the sea
the water turns to cloud.

Seeking the world within the sea
wind-climbing waters!
This is merely the fruit
of the Lord's impatience.

Strength of the sea trying
to be little waves.
