The Gospel Trumpet
Oh, hear the gospel triumpet,
'Tis calling night and day
To ev'ry Christian worker,
“Go work and watch and pray!”
Go out into the highways,
And in the hedges, too,
And ev'ry gilden mansion,
There's work for all to do.
There is no place for idlers,
No place for great display,
The Master calls for workers,
Who'll work both night and day.
Oh, tell me, Christian brother,
What will you think, or say,
If without sheaves he finds you,
In the great reck'ning day?
Then, brethren, let us rally,
The trumpet call obey,
Forsaking ev'ry idol,
Go work, and watch and pray.
'Tis calling night and day
To ev'ry Christian worker,
“Go work and watch and pray!”
Go out into the highways,
And in the hedges, too,
And ev'ry gilden mansion,
There's work for all to do.
There is no place for idlers,
No place for great display,
The Master calls for workers,
Who'll work both night and day.
Oh, tell me, Christian brother,
What will you think, or say,
If without sheaves he finds you,
In the great reck'ning day?
Then, brethren, let us rally,
The trumpet call obey,
Forsaking ev'ry idol,
Go work, and watch and pray.
