June Whispers
I stand again where, often,
I stood in other years,
June gladness in my heart,
Cricket music in my ears.
The earth and sky are teaming
With caravels sublime—
The fragrances of nature,
The silences of time.
Deep in their midnight arches
The stars watch clear and true,
The green things in earth-gardens
Are drinking in the dew.
The blossoms are exhaling
Their perfumes of delight;
The hand of God is resting
On the pillow of the night.
I stood in other years,
June gladness in my heart,
Cricket music in my ears.
The earth and sky are teaming
With caravels sublime—
The fragrances of nature,
The silences of time.
Deep in their midnight arches
The stars watch clear and true,
The green things in earth-gardens
Are drinking in the dew.
The blossoms are exhaling
Their perfumes of delight;
The hand of God is resting
On the pillow of the night.
