A Kiss

A Kiss? Pray tell me, what is in a kiss,
That it should be the ultimate of bliss?
I've tried it, and in vain; I cannot see
Why so much sought for a mere kiss should be.

I wish I knew wherein lies the delight,
The smacking part! What's in that to excite?
Or drinking souls from lips, as lovers do —
Ah, let me see — and did I try that too?

I have convinced myself it must be good,
When people kiss each other as they should;
A mouth with rosy lips and a moustache
Together met, knock reason " all to smash . "
