Larch Wood Secrets

In Larch Wood
Is a little grey pool;
I go there
When the day is cool.
And when I see the sea-gulls
Come flying down the sky,
Then I know that Winter
And the cold days are nigh.

In Larch Wood
There are growing seven larches,
One green hazel
And two silver birches;
And when I hear the squirrel
Chitter-chattering to the sky,
Then I know that Maytime
And the warm days are nigh.
