Maranatha
Forgiven ? No! Forgotten? Never!
My soul shall clutch it after death!
My life shall grasp it close forever,
Nor lose it with its latest breath!
Each day my mind doth ponder o'er it
From breaking dawn to fading light!
No sleep doth end unless before it
A dream doth bring thy hated sight!
Think'st thou my vengeance long belated?
Wait! Some day's sun shall it reveal!
As silently I've watched and waited,
So, noiseless, on thee it shall steal!
'Tis said that " time makes all things even;
That naught, however great or strong,
Shall e'er prevail, if unforgiven,
'Gainst him who treasures up a wrong! "
My cause is just, its triumph certain!
And not to time I've left it all! —
Eternity, behind death's curtain,
Holds fast a curse on thee to fall!
My soul shall clutch it after death!
My life shall grasp it close forever,
Nor lose it with its latest breath!
Each day my mind doth ponder o'er it
From breaking dawn to fading light!
No sleep doth end unless before it
A dream doth bring thy hated sight!
Think'st thou my vengeance long belated?
Wait! Some day's sun shall it reveal!
As silently I've watched and waited,
So, noiseless, on thee it shall steal!
'Tis said that " time makes all things even;
That naught, however great or strong,
Shall e'er prevail, if unforgiven,
'Gainst him who treasures up a wrong! "
My cause is just, its triumph certain!
And not to time I've left it all! —
Eternity, behind death's curtain,
Holds fast a curse on thee to fall!
