AFFIRMATION

I know what life can be – yes, I do
But, I wonder, do you really know
I have seen that look in your eyes
I recognise the signs when love dies
Cold when the north wind will blow
Do not argue, as you know it is true

Life can be wonderful – yes, it can
Each day, a reason for celebration
Perhaps it may be that you suspect
That in the end, I’m proved correct
And we will have that conversation
You will remember the day it began

Life is full of surprises – yes, it is
Some not so good, but mostly fine
Not empty, like a reservoir drained
You know luck can never be feigned
And no excuse not to read the sign
Life should be more about the fizz

I will live it to the full – yes, I will
No time to dwell upon the bland
Maximum pleasure to be derived
Nor evidence it may be contrived
Finally, perhaps I will understand
As all it takes is just one more pill
