ASSET
A perspiration sheen on her tanned skin
Temporary, as evaporating morning dew
Flushed cheeks from that early uphill run
Breathing now slower in September’s sun
She gazes down to see a fine valley view
A short walk home so her day can begin
She smiles at the thought of being alone
No other local walkers at this early hour
Few then, may experience that emotion
With body and brain, thought in motion
She stops to peer at a single pretty flower
The last of the season, yet not full grown
The daily exercise isn’t what it may seem
That wooden bench at the top of the hill
Is a regular drop for passing information
A classic arrangement, with no hesitation
And it’s an easy way to cover every bill
As it pays quite well, that Eastern regime
