i am a dwarf mouse
in your human hands
please don’t forget that i am

hands strong enough, hands
to crush without feeling
to crush without thinking
to crush without effort

trust me, i trust you
intend to be gentle

and you hold me high, high
enough to see this world
things that i never could see on my own

you won’t let me fall, you won’t
twenty times body length
down to the ground
down
down

trust me, i trust you
but one
false
move
