ONE DAY AT A TIME
Tell me, did we just taste freedom
Was it all it was cracked up to be
It seemed as if the veil was lifted
And we might experience liberty
But wait, perhaps it was all a ruse
Designed to quell the population
As a reluctant recognition of need
Although a twisted interpretation
Desires are never merely personal
But what all of society must realise
So imagine what’s inside our minds
Or take a deep look into our eyes
It is years since you missed a meal
Maybe even never, I would guess
But unentitled to this favoured life
Your friends are so easy to impress
Perhaps it’s a merest hint of luxury
A short pause from the daily grind
Yet none of you have any real idea
Of a reaction growing in our mind
Did I really hear, Let them eat cake
As being hungry, we pick up crumbs
You will see the difference we make
When the bloody revolution comes
