(On Climate Change & Deforestation)
The trees once spoke in whispers bright,
Yet now their tongues are burned from sight.
Their bodies fall, their roots unstrung,
Their voices choked, their requiem sung.
The rivers twist in poisoned veins,
The sky exhales but coughs remains.
The wind once free, the fields once vast,
Now crumble slow in dying past.
The heat now climbs, the waters rise,
The seasons turn in fractured lies.
The soil, once rich, now cracked and bare,
A future gasps, yet none prepare.
A time will come, a time will see,
When earth reclaims what once was free.
And if we choose to watch her break,
Then we will drown in what we take.
Yet green still stirs in seeds unchained,
Yet hope still breathes where life remains.
But hands must change, but hearts must mend,
Or nature’s love will find its end.
