Mind Yourself

" Just mind yourself, " says he to me,
" Avoid the divil's company.
The wage he gives won't make yous fat,
A greasy coat, a broken hat,
An' trousers patched at either knee.

" A man who drives a car needs be
Aware to mind he's not too free,
But sober as a cardinal's cat —
Just mind yourself. "

" Avoid them treating lads, " says he,
" An' join the men's Sodality.
Don't cock your little finger, Pat,
There's ruin in the like o' that,
And riches in sobriety —
Just mind yourself. "
