To Mrs Rush, on Her Birth Day

Accept my dear the chearful lay
Prompted by this auspicious day
Maternel blessings hail the morn
On which my much lov'd child was born
May each return of genial spring
Fresh blooming health and comfort bring
And virtues kindly influence pour
The choicest blessings of her store.
May pratling infants round you smile,
And pay with love their mothers toil,
Your worth may your philander own
When youth and beauty too are gone.
