No gorgeous coat has he,
He is plain as he can be;
Singing all the live-long day,
Imitating what I say.
Mocking ev'ry bird in bush,
Sparrow, wren, or hawk or thrush,
Parrot, robin, finch or crow,
Owl, oriole, bird of snow,
With cuteness quite astounding,
Bird and man alike confounding.
