From Nature's beginning
From Nature's beginning
Sin blunders & brags,
True making, true winning
Go hidden in rags.
Wit has the creation
Of worlds & their fame
On one stipulation,
— Renouncing the same.
What wilt thou? the Forces?
Or skies which they breed?
The strain it discourses
Or Pan? or his reed?
If the crown once incloses
The brows of her son,
The Muse him deposes
From kingdom & throne.
