The Nuptial Day

Illustrious pair, by Heav'n design'd,
The pride and pleasure of mankind,
Nature your virtues does approve,
And bids the lifeless statues move.
See, they seem to breathe and live,
And to your love their plaudits give,

Come, tune your pipes, ye jovial swains,
And fill the air with cheerful strains.
Trip, trip, ye nymphs, the circle round,
And light as zephyrs touch the ground.
Sing, sing and dance, rejoice and play,
'Tis fair Britannia's nuptial day.
