Classic Poem

One lingers loth to judge Jacque's later work,
Longing to pass in peace, and lightly shirk
The hunt for fitting phrase and mellow rhyme
To link his present with a better time.
Art's downward slope is easy to pursue,
No half-way houses interrupt the view.
