Of Persistence

Talent made a poor Appearance
Until he married Perseverance.

Who waits on Fortune's Knock will rarely win;
Who calls on Fortune, some day finds her in.

T HE Colt in the Pasture can gallop all day,
But what can he do in the Shafts of the Dray?

Who takes one Stroke in turn at Every Tree,
Fells None, however sharp his Ax may be.

E NTHUSIASM sets the Embers glowing,
But only Work can keep the Fire going.
