Classic Poem

I admit:
I keep trying to make it, but
I don't know what it is . Would it
be right there in the words? Or
would the words, whether heard or seen,
be a kind of steeple, while it —
remote and anterior —
was a kind of sky? Something like that?

And would words, then, be disjoint
and steeples be flat —
I mean (or I think I mean)
would there be any point,
with nothing to point at?
