I comaunde alle the ratones that are here aboute,
That none dwelle in this place, withinne ne withoute,
Thorgh the vertu of Jesu Crist, that Mary bare aboute,
That alle creätures owen for to loute,
And thorgh the vertu of Mark, Mathew, Luke, an Jon —
Alle foure Evangeles corden into on —
Thorgh the vertu of Saint Geretrude, that maide clene,
God graunte that grace
That none raton dwelle in the place
That here names were nemeled in;
And thorgh the vertu of Saint Kasi,
That holy man, that prayed to God Almighty
For scathes that they deden
His meden
By dayes and by night,
God bad hem fleen and gon out of every mannes sight.
Dominus Deus Sabaot ! Emanuel, that gret Godes name!
I betweche this place from ratones and from alle other shame.
God save this place fro alle other wikked wightes,
Bothe by dayes and by nightes! et in nomine Patris et Filii, etc.
