Refutation of the Above Lines

The British fabulist misleads the mind,
Friendship and love are better thus defin'd;
Love, like the diamond, when by many shar'd,
Loses its value, and becomes impair'd;
But friendship's more like gold, its ductile state
May stretch for ever, and retain its weight!
