Reuben Ranzo

1. Oh, poor old Reuben Ranzo, Ran zo boys, Ran zo! Oh,
Ranzo was no sailor, Ran zo, boys, Ran zo!

2 But he was a Boston tailor.
He went on a visit to New Bedford.

3 He was shanghaied on a whaler.
He could not do his duty.

4 So they put him to holystoning.
They took him to the gangway,

5 They tied him on the grating,
And they gave him five and forty.

6 The captain's youngest daughter
Begged her father for mercy.

7 The captain loved his daughter,
And he heeded her cries for mercy.

8 He put Ranzo in the cabin,
And taught him navigation.

9 Ranzo married his daughter,
And now he's skipper of a whaler,

10 And he's got a little Ranzo! TWICE .
