To the Right Honourable, Henry Lord Clifford, Onely Sonne of Francis Earle of Cumberland
High honour'd Lord, and Cumberlands sole heire;
Ever may you to poore men Friendship beare,
Noting whose inward vertues of the mind,
Rightly a worthy friend indeed we find,
Your honour'd selfe, whose truly vertuous heart.
Ever doth Friendship unto all impart.
Charity lively pourtraid is in you,
Lively exprest in figures very true,
In you is noblenesse, and Noblemen,
Friends best are to the poore and needy then,
Free is your heart, the Freeman is best Friend ,
On whom the poore most often do attend,
Respecting which I wonder not, when as
Doubtlesse your worth doth lasons fleece surpasse,
Excell it highly although Gold it was.
