To the Right Honourable, John Lord Torphichen
In honour worth so trumpets ou't your fame.
O that you shew to have a noble name.
Ha vertue makes that you on lands do send
Noble encomiuns of the way you bend.
So lustre forth most noble Sir your worth,
And let it lustre forth your noble birth
Nobly adorned with your vertues too,
Decking an high birth, which doth make them show,
Eternally may such true honour grow,
Land so will men your true nobility,
A dorned still with greater dignity,
Noting whose worth fame by will send on land ,
Declaring unto them to understand
E'ne that you do an higher state command.
O that you shew to have a noble name.
Ha vertue makes that you on lands do send
Noble encomiuns of the way you bend.
So lustre forth most noble Sir your worth,
And let it lustre forth your noble birth
Nobly adorned with your vertues too,
Decking an high birth, which doth make them show,
Eternally may such true honour grow,
Land so will men your true nobility,
A dorned still with greater dignity,
Noting whose worth fame by will send on land ,
Declaring unto them to understand
E'ne that you do an higher state command.
