Farewell the groves, and farewell the bowers!
Ye rocks, ye mountains, and ye streams, farewell!
Farewell the bloom and sweet breath of the flowers!
Farewell for evermore! a long farewell!

Farewell, O Vale of fast falling water!
Ye banks, ye bushes, and ye glades, farewell!
Farewell, lone parent of one wayward daughter!
Farewell forever, — a long, long farewell!
