Rule Britannia

1.

From age to age, the bad grew worse,
And still retorted curse for curse,
Though seas, and skies, and light, and air,
Sang, thus, in concert, every where:
Sow not weeds, and say, " Here flowers will bloom! "
Home to roost all curses come.

2.

On willful woes the sun arose,
The sun went down on willful woes,
Though earth and heav'n seem'd waxing young,
And thus, the " God of Gladness " sung:
Good-for-Good is Peace — is Peace and Love:
Willing learners best improve.

3.

At length, Great God, thy seas and skies
Teach willful mourners to be wise!
Men find, that he who fights may fall!
And this shall be the song of all:
Good-for-Good is Love — and Love is Peace:
Good, partaken, must encrease.
