Sipping grog one day at sea

Sipping grog one day at sea,
Says the Captain — " Don't tell me!
Talk of " men's equality! "
T'ain't in nature: what's her rule?
Choose a crew, say — twelve about:
Why, before your first week's out
One they'll flatter, one they'll flout,
One's their king and one's their fool!"
" What's the use" (says I) " of rappin"
Nasty oaths out' (says I) " Cap'n?
Here's my answer, " Does it happen
That your crew cry, " No such thing!"
You, the chap that knows, play Mummy
For your father was a chummy.
