To Sir Philip Sidneyes Soul. Sonet 5 -

Sonet 5.

Great Alexander then did well declare
How great was his vnited kingdomes might
When euery captayne of his armye might
After his death with mightie kings compare.

So now we see after thy death how far
Thow dost in worth surpasse each other knight
When we admire him as no mortall wight
In whome the least of all thy vertues are.

One did of Macedon the king become
Another sate in the Ægiptian throne
But onlye Alexander's selfe had all.

So courteouse some and some be liberall
Some wittie wise valliant and learned some
But Kinge of all the vertues thow alone.
