Song in Britannia

Beauteous charmer, pride of nature,
Idol, goddess of my heart;
Soul of sweetness, heaven-born creature,
Ease a tender lover's smart.
How I dote, adore, and languish
Witness all the gods above;
Nothing can assuage my anguish
But a smile from her I love.

Ev'ry step inspires devotion,
Ev'ry look displays a grace;
So majestick is your motion,
So angelick is your face;
If there's pleasure in beholding
Such a boundless blaze of charms,
Oh, the rapture of enfolding
So much beauty in my arms!
