Spring-Joy Praising God; Praise of the Sun

You empress of the stars, the heavens' worthy crown,
The world's great eye, and soul of all the spreading earth,
The middle-point of beams and joy's and beauty's birth,
The life of every thing and clarity's bright throne.

Folk's flame and treasure-house, from which all bliss is won,
God's mirror (for naught else can show His lustre's worth),
Eternal motion's show in your hot hastening girth,
You golden wonder-fount, incomparable sun!

A ship, which brings to us from God life's needed wares,
His wagon, which to us the heavens' crop relays,
You are the king of time, and rule the years and days.

Your noble presence well the continents repairs,
You lovely blessings-tree, set down by God's designs,
From out your bloom of light the Maker's beauty shines.
