St. John's Day

We meet who never met before,
And may not meet again;
Then fill the day with happy thoughts
That memory will retain.

To-day the hand in honest grasp,
To-day the tuneful voice,
Speak of the white-robed Brotherhood
Who round the earth rejoice.

To-day be Sabbath to our God;
His grace inspired this tie;
Honor to Him, the first, the last,—
Lord of Eternity!

The day will come, oh, blissful time,
The parted shall unite;
Be ours the hope, when life is done,
To share the long delight!
