How many days now, living in seclusion, in solitude? —
Blazing summer is suddenly in decline.
Bright colors in sunlight all shaded and covered,
Friends and relations — strayed, gone different ways
Climb a mountain, gaze, cannot see them,
Tears trickle down in an endless stream.
All my life stirred by their faces' beauty,
As though fixing a time to meet the white clouds
Proud young men on horseback,
Galloping after each other in dumb confusion
In the mountains of Shu, by the rivers of Chu —
When again shall we join hands?
Blazing summer is suddenly in decline.
Bright colors in sunlight all shaded and covered,
Friends and relations — strayed, gone different ways
Climb a mountain, gaze, cannot see them,
Tears trickle down in an endless stream.
All my life stirred by their faces' beauty,
As though fixing a time to meet the white clouds
Proud young men on horseback,
Galloping after each other in dumb confusion
In the mountains of Shu, by the rivers of Chu —
When again shall we join hands?
