Sunkist Maids of the Sunshine State

(To the nurses at Pasadena Hospital)

B LUE-EYED or brown-eyed, buxom or tall,
Sunkist and sun ripe, sweet maids they are all,
Plump ones and slim ones, all radiant-skinned,
Sunlight reflecting, tanned by soft wind.

Eyes give back glancing, the light shining there,
Lips ripe for kisses, and gold gleaming hair,
Cheeks softly glowing and rounded to love,
Sunripe and sunkist by sunshine above.
