The Test of Genius

Its voice was such, a soul seemed next to mine,
Nearer than soul had ever come before;
My thought was sounded by a singer's line;
One lonely depth was fathomless no more.

Though searched as if by comprehending sight,
No sense of man or woman entered there;
I only felt with how divine a might
Genius asserts its presence everywhere.
